If it told you that you'll need at least $425,000 (i.e. 25 x $17,000) when you retire, It's probably OK.

Since he is giving a retirement age of 54 and a life expectancy of 75, that's only 21 years of retirement, less than the 30 years which is so often bandied about.

So it should come up with something less than $425k. How much less, I don't know off the top of my head. What is the SWR for 20 years rather than 30?

You could also question the assumption for life expectancy, but that's a different topic.
