If some one gave you money with the requirement that you put it either into the bond fund or small cap fund, which would you choose?

Truth? Neither. I would not accept money with such strings attached. <grin>

Here is my thinking. SHBDX and SPGRX are both in the upper end of their 52 week NAV swing, and both generally have the same directional and marginal reactions to the market. Here is where they differ.

- SHBDX has a TTM yield of 8%, while SPGRX has a TTM yield of 1.64%
- SHBDX has a YTD return of 1.31%, while SPGRX has a YTD return of 0.75%
- SHBDX has a monthly dividend payment of about $32 (about 0.6%), while SPGRX had a year-end dividend of about $88

Based on this data, I have decided that the $32/mo gain with SHBDX is a better short term risk than SPGRX.
