If someone posts a repeat joke, should I reply and point out that it's already been posted?

I don't really care if somebody replies or not, however I wish they'd do it privately so I don't have to read about it a hundred million times like I do now. Just let the "offenders" know they can check to see if a joke has already been posted recently. Many times, I don't think they even realize such functionality is there.
