If Sox skipper,Joe Kerigan, had a clue, he would have intentionally walked Anderson to give Ripkin one more shot. The game meant nothing for either team as far as standings. Having 2 on and 2 out in the ninth with a 3 run lead would not have changed the outcome much. Unless of course he homered to TIE the game. David Cone had given Ripkin some fastballs right down the middle earlier in the game, hoping Cal would grove one. Cone tried to give Cal a good sendoff. Cal's last at bat he flied to deep left-center field. Urbina may have done the something to give Cal something to hit as well.To have Ripken go hitless in his last game was just wrong.
