...if we are the superior life form on the planet, then we should be looking out for the lesser life forms, not destroying them. We exist with them. We need them.

Exactly! All life forms need eachother. Maybe we need to stop thinking in terms of superiority and describe life forms in terms of complexity. I mean, sure the lion is superior to the antelope, because that's how the food chain works. The antelope can't turn around and hunt the lion one day and then go back to being hunted the next day. Does that make one superior to the other? I don't know. Is one more complex than the other? The lion is mentally (?) capable of stalking and physically capable of catching and killing the antelope, does that imply a higher complexity? Maybe.

Just thinking :-)
