IF we got a big 1929-style Crash and I came out OK financially, I sure wouldn't flaunt that I have money to a lot of people who don't. Might make me a target. People might justify it that I "owe them" or "it's not fair."

Good point. There was a lot of lawlessness during the depression; organized crime really grew, and bankrobbers were a social phenomenon.
