If you are saying you will slowly move from 100% equity to 100% bonds over the course of 8 years, that sounds reasonable. Sure you will have some NAV loss in the next 8 years, but it should be countered by the equity gains. By the time, equities have returned and bonds are toast, then you'll be in a contrarian position and ready for retirement. This is all guesstimate, I don't have a crystal ball...
