If you do an Internet search for Tantalum Elephants you get some interesting results.I guess the new 3G phones are using minerals from Africa to achieve the miniaturization of capacitors. The rumor is that the miners there kill Gorillas and Elephants to eat. Is it possible that Australian miners of tantalum (coltan) will see increases in business as environmentalists make their case?Sons of Gwalia ASX:SGW, stock price has doubled in the last year. Since Kemet NYSE:KEM,has gone into business with Australasian Gold ASX:ATE to form Tantalum Australia. Australasian Gold has had rough times (bankruptcy) in the gold markets, but is re-emerging as a tantalum miner with the joint venture. Its a penny stock. Basically if they can they produce it as cheaply as Africa; can they compete? Then its a question of how much you hear of the Congolese wildlife in the Okapi Faunal Reserve. If quite a fuss develops (which it should) and people want "Gorilla Safe Cellphones", the Australians could do well. I buy dolphin safe tuna!
