If you have fallen victim to this poorly run scam, I would not report it to the police. You are likely to be ruled to be incompetent and have a guardian appointed to handle your affairs for you. On second thought, that is probably best for anyone who falls for something as outlandish as this.

I can't count how many times I've read the same misanthropic bilge expressed in this post. I am sick to death of armchair know-it-alls clucking their tongues all the while condemning victims to their fate only because they aren't so smart. Whether the scam is "streetsurance", predatory home equity loans, home improvement cons, or the Nigerian scam people deserve whatever misery they receive at the hands of unscrupulous thugs merely because they were gullible.

Last I checked, a person's rights are not dependent on their intelligence or "street smarts". Heaven help us all if that was true.
