If you make me financially responsible for the broken leg of the teenager next door that does skateboarding stunts, then you should also give me the right to tell him he can't skateboard any more. Rights and responsibilities (including accepting consequences for one's actions) should go hand-in-hand.

You under this sytem you ARE responsible and he does not pay anything. Under a single payer system, we all pay, and he is responsible. Not his employer, not the insurance company that ends up paying extra to cover his unpaid bills, not the wealthy who pay there bills in cash. He is.
