If you're serious about saving the trees, you need to consider a systemic imidacloprid treatment. If your foresters didn't mention this to you, you should find better foresters.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

they have suggested it. it costs about $300 per tree. that is over 100 trees. :( and it only lasts 3 years. also it is in the wetlands that are the head waters for several lakes in the area.

Imidacloprid acts as an agonist on the postsynaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of motor neurones in insects. This causes an over-stimulation of the nervous system, and ultimately kills the insect1.

I don't think I would like this in my water much less on my land.

both foresters say to cut the trees out and plant something else. 3 steam beds, 5 springs, a swamp all with in 18 acres. I am going to try saving them first with the predators approach. if I can spend $1500 and save all the trees then it would be worth it. that would also include the mite predators too.

one thing nice about living below your means is that you can afford to do this. the test plot I have here it worked and not only that but every tree I have looked at here does not have the woolly adelajda.
