There's some questions about timing as Menendez just won re-election last month. Did they just learn this, or were they sitting on it?

I'd like to know who's in charge of checking the background of the people who are Senate interns. Is it the clerk? Because this person was a double no-no...Here illegally and a sex offender. Is this responsibility of the Senator's office or is it there a clearly house for anyone who works there.
