I'm assuming that it is appropriate to put my company name in addition to my own name on the outgoing message, correct?

This doesn't specifically answer your question (I think it's absolutely appropriate) but I wanted to share something I observed.

I was at a wireless phone company, and a gentleman customer was having their customer service rep. (a lady) record the message for his telephone. Then when a customer called, it "appeared" that his one-person business (I assume) had a secretary/receptionist answering the phone. I thought it was a good touch.
