I'm fairly certain the conversion from A to B shares is not taxable. Recall that Warren Buffet is giving away the bulk of his shares to charity over the next several years. He owns A shares, but has committed to donating B shares. So he's converting them before donating. There's no way he'd be doing that if he had to pay the capital gain tax on the conversion.--Peter
