I'm generally not that interested in visiting cities with lousy public transit. Dallas never piqued my interest in any case, especially so since I found Houston and San Antonio just alright.

You can get good, grass-fed beef anywhere people can afford to pay for it ( we don't gnerally go out for steak, it's something we cook well at home, and my brother even better). Good seafood is a bit dicier. I miss the cod, scrod, haddock, and bluefish of bean town myself, but love the cheaper Pacific fish of the west coast and really fresh, cheap, and local shrimp and blue crabs of the south.

my husband made the acquaintance of another liberal couple on SC last weekend when he went to Tinker Tailor (hee, tinker stalker--sounds like a good sequel -) with a friend who brought another couple new to him/us. Since all but one of my female friends there have moved (was it something I said?!) this bodes well. I will have next year in SC during DH's last year before retirement. So it would be nice t have a cuoupla wymins to hang with. the hubster, the Internet, music and books are absolutely fabulous, but not quite enough even for an introvert like me.
