I'm not self-employed, but I work for a small company that does not offer disablity income insurance. I'm a member of a couple of professional organizations, and these types of groups often have deals with insurance companies and offer decent rates (that's how I picked up my disability and term life insurance policies). Check with any organizations you belong to, credit unions, etc. Usually they'll let you know through mailings when they have these kinds of things available to members.
