[[I'm wondering wether it would be foolish to keep investing in my 401k?]] [[Can I considerably beat the index fund untaxed, with taxed funds?]

Ron, it depends...

I think what you are asking really is: Should I continue contributing to my 401K beyond my employer's match versus investing after-tax money elsewhere?

There is an excellent analysis by Robert Sheard, see
http://www.fool.com/DDow/1998/DDow980819.htm

The conclusion is that it all depends on your tax bracket, amount of matching contribution, the returns of funds/stocks in your 401K versus the returns outside 401K.

Good luck!

Alan
