In 1947, the majority of the international community recognized Israel as a country--which at the time was the only reasonable resolution to the Israeli-Arab feud. Therefore, Israel has a right to defend itself and is required to do so on a fairly regular basis. Both sides thrive on the world upheaval they cause with their feud. Maybe a solution is for the rest of the world to ignore them. Oh, that's right...we need the Middle East's oil.I saw on the local newscast tonight that there was a big Palestinian demonstration in downtown Chicago today -- over a thousand showed up. Some were interviewed and they were griping about Obama's support for Israel and its right to defend itself, and also that Israel's bombing is killing women and children. Wait a minute -- didn't the Palestinians start this most recent conflict? What is Israel supposed to do -- nothing? One guy interviewed even said that the only way there can be peace is if Israel is eliminated... Yikes!
