In a "class action" settlement one only need to have purchased shares during the qualifying class time frame. From among holders contacting the Law Firm initiating the Class Action a "Lead Filer" (not the correct term) would be selected whose name would appear in the formal documents. A Class Action defaults to all shareholders within the qualifying class unless one exempts or opts-out.

Still it is a good idea to Google "Nortel Class Action" to find the respective Law Firms and get the specifics of the qualifying class to determine if one is indeed within the class.
