In addition to Bill Gross (who will never shut up or stop talking his book, so reading up will be easy), there are a bunch of really solid managers in the bond world. Most are lower profile than Big Mouth Bill, or parts of teams. So I would go look at the Templeton team that manages closed end fund GIM, for example. I think quite highly of the Wellington Management team. Most of the other really sharp managers that come to mind are part of teams that manage portfolios for insurance companies or hedge funds. They rarely (if ever) show up in the press.
