In adults, outside of the special cases of inherited syndromes and transplants, do we really still care what the cholesterol and LDL is? I think the trend, as discussed in the various statin threads, is to move beyond these surrogate markers and focus on clinically relevant end-points.

I'm not implying in any way that there are specific goals. It's simply the reality that macadamia nuts help to main healthful levels, so it makes sense to include some in one's daily dose of nuts. We don't have to stay away from them because they're a high-fat nut.

But numbers have to be used in studies assessing the impact of these nuts (or whatever is being assessed) in order to determine if there is an effect or not.

Macadamias covered in super dark chocolate......I like that!
