In my case, I've changed jobs twice after about 10 years so I was able to rollover my 401ks to mitigate the poor fund choices. Also, I'm currently deferring more than 30% in taxes and expect to pay less than 15% in retirement. I think it would be difficult to make that 15+% up in a non tax advantaged account or even a Roth. -murray
