In my on going quest, I finally got around to reading the online reviews for induction cooktops and the as-seen-on-TV options.

Amazon reveals 10 or so companies that offer portable, counter top, induction cooktop options, ranging from $49 to $200. There are some "professional/commercial" options that are $500-$1000. Most are 1800 watt devices.

I'm going to summarize Amazon's reviews as representative of most customers, because Amazon provides a readily visible rating system: 1 poor, 5 excellent... And it's KISS.

For the as-seen-on-TV: Nuwave and Copper Chef:

Nuwave seems dicey from the customer service, refund, shipping cost comments. A couple of 'professional' reviewers say to buy from Amazon, or Bed Bath and Beyond, or Kohl's... Avoid the shipping and the return hassles. Hearthware is the parent company behind Nuwave products.

For the induction cooktop, 362 reviews on Amazon, an overall 4.2 gives a "glass half full" perspective. 30% of customers give the company a 1 on Amazon reviews. 40% give it a 5.

For the Oven Pro, 584 reviews on Amazon, an overall 4.1 gives a "glass half full" perspective. 20% give it a 1, while 50% give it a 5. 1:1 chance of good experience? LOL

Copper Chef is the more recent entry to the as-seen-on-TV cooking marvel technology. 1323 Amazon reviews for a fry pan do NOT mention customer service or shipping costs as problems. I did see 1 (one) bad review for customer service for a different product. I think the buy from a local brick n mortar source applies?

The Copper Chef induction cooktop, 57 reviews on Amazon, an overall score of 4.6. 9% give it a 1; 77% give a 5.
The cooktop is only 1300 watts. (QVC gives it 3.4 /5).

Copper Chef Cooktop w pan set. 246 reviews on Amazon, 4.6 overall rating, with 79% giving it a 5. Another 11% give it a 4. So... 90% are real happy?

There are a number of 'review bloggers' who seem... Mostly useless. LOL

FWIW :-)
Ralph who hasn't yet made a decision. :-)
