In other words, analyzing not so much from the investor (results) side, do you have a view as to what will keep companies themselves (decision) side using dividends instead of moving away from them?

Dividends are becoming popular. Research shows that the best returns historically have come from dividend payers. The best companies have a reputation for being good dividend payers. Non-payers and low dividend payers are beginning to get a bad reputation. It is well deserved.

The payout ratio is close to historical lows. There is a lot of room on the upside.

Retirees need a stable income stream. Dividends meet this need.

Not yet recognized by most of the public: share buybacks do very little to help shareholders. Buybacks often send a signal self serving management.
