Due to spreads and commish, you can generally expect a same-day loss of about (-2%) anytime you put on a new bond position. If you’ve bought well, that immediate loss generally fades in the coming weeks and months.

However, if you’ve bought really well, you can expect to see your position marked to market above your all-in entry price even before the end of the day, which just happened to me, which is a cheery way to end the workweek.
