Reuters Story - January 06, 2000 12:46
WASHINGTON, Jan 6 (Reuters) - The chief executive and several vice presidents at Optical Coating Laboratory Inc. plan to sell more than $26 million worth of the company's stock, recent Securities and Exchange Commission filings showed.

There was no immediate comment from Optical Coating, the Santa Rosa, Calif.-based maker of optical thin film coatings that control and enhance light and are used in computer monitors, medical instruments, copiers and satellites.

Optical Coating's shares are currently trading up 6 to 293 on Nasdaq.

CEO Charles Abbe filed to sell 50,000 common shares valued at more than $12.8 million. Abbe, who is in his late 50s, has been CEO since April 1998 and president since November 1997.

He was joined by a group of corporate vice presidents including Stephen Myers, who plans to sell 20,000 shares worth about $5 million, and Michael Cumbo, who is also the chief technical officer, who intends to sell 15,000 shares for about $3.7 million.

Other VPs who filed to sell stock include Craig Collins (10,000 shares worth about $2.4 million) and Kenneth Pietrelli (4,000 shares for more than $990,000).

Optical Coating is in the process of being acquired by Canada's JDS Uniphase Corp.
