Interesting article on the increasing evidence pointing to this conclusion.
Some scientists are beginning to call Alzheimer's "type 3 diabetes".

Great article. I just skimmed it right now, but it is eye opening.

This article refers to Alzheimer's as "Type 3 Diabetes" which I have not read before. I suspect that my aging father may have some form of early onset dementia, if not Alzheimer's.

My father is in his early 80s and my mother is in her late 70s. They don't eat common store bought junk food, but they do eat a diet very high in fat (mostly saturated fat from meat), salt, and usually accompanied by simple starches (primarily white rice or noodles). Gravy or sauce on everything. They think that they eat a lot of vegetables, but when my mother invites me to dinner, I crave some sort of vegetable. In fact, sometimes my mother makes an extra dish of green vegetables primarily for me since she thinks I am a little too crazy about vegetables, but she wants to make me happy. And it is often drenched in gravy, or a salty sauce.

They both now have Type 2 diabetes. They have modified their eating habits somewhat from how they have cooked and eaten all their lives, but mostly because they have to check their blood sugar regularly.

I can't stop them from eating they way they want, but it is a reminder to me that I need to continue to monitor what and how I eat.

Thank you.
