Investing is a discipline. We discipline ourselves for many years, denying ourselves the use of our full income so that we can enjoy the full benefits of the nuts we store during our retirement years. As we close in on the magic number (59 1/2) we must continue to hold strong with this same discipline. Why give away 10%, when there were many years when we felt we were so lucky to make 10%? As our savings grow and the numbers increase, it takes more self-control and discipline than ever. But I say hold fast. What's one more year? We work too hard for our money and sacrificed all these years to save it up, don't weaken at the very end and lose part of what you worked so hard for if you can avoid it. If we were to have another good year, you would actually lose much more than the 10% penealty on the withdrawal! It could be a very significant forfeit.
