Hey Splurz,

Yeah - I did see that. And we know that AAPL is muuuch better than Android in getting the majority of users to update to the most recent iOS.

I guess what we don't know is how much of the basic iOS infrastructure is retained between major versions and how much is just new features.

Do we expect that the bootup code will change (or change significantly) between iOS 9 and 11? Is there any evidence of that?

I would think the only significant changes, apart from security updates, would be changes to accommodate new generations of chips. Then there would be old code for backward compatibility. Mostly, though, I'd expect much of the code to remain unchanged simply out of inertia.

I'd go with the fake X-Code that infected tons of phones before it was caught. It was all in China, so the US news did not cover it much.
