I just opened an IRA account with a discount broker, and some of the stocks I am considering pay dividends. How is this handled? Do they pay me and I deposit the amount in my IRA?Thanks for any guidance on this.
The dividends are in the IRA account. Now, you have a couple of choices: Reinvest in that company and set up something like a DRiP or take the money in a money market account and then put it wherever you want.Note: The dividends do not count towards the IRA contributions.JB
