Currently my wife has an IRA in a credit union and the variable rate is only 3.5%. Is that a norm or are there better ways to make her traditional IRA work harder (as far as interest rates go)?My other bank (Etradebank) allows us to transfer IRAs into (I guess) CD accounts. Would there be any advantage to using a 5 year CD for the IRA or 1 year CD?Or are there other ways to get even higher rates (Etrade offers about 7% for their CDs for IRAs)?Thanks for your help.
