Hello all. I have a few IRA questions for you.

1) If you are married, do you have to open a seperate IRA for each person? How does that work if a spouse stays home? Does the other spouse have to earn at least 4K for the couple to be able to contribute the full amount?

2) Can you open an IRA say right now, and still contribute the full amount (2,000). And then come Jan 1 contribute 2K for the year 2000?

3) If you have 10 years to retirement and your combined income will be less than 30-40K a year, which is better to open, a regular or a Roth?

Thanks all.

I appreciate any repsonses.
