I realize this is a topic that is discussed regularly here, but I have a few general questions I was hoping someone out there could answer. I am only 20 years old and have a rather low income, but will still be investing $2000 a year to whichever IRA I choose.
First, which type of IRA is right for me, and why? I am leaning towards a Roth IRA, but have not been given any good reasons as to why this would be a good decision.
Second, how should I invest the money in my IRA account? In this case, I am leaning towards mutual funds. Considering I have about 45 years until I can begin making withdrawals from my account, I have been considering rather aggressive mutual funds (value or growth oriented) to invest in. Is this a good idea, particularly considering the recent state of the stock market? I would principally like some suggestions for help in conducting my own research. In particular, I would like to know how you have chosen to invest and why. Particularly the "why."
Thank you very much, in advance.
