I was wondering if it is true that the brokerage firm where we keep our owned stocks, uses those equities through lending them or their value, thereby actually earning a yield on our owned equities, while they sit in our accounts, and while we pay the firm to buy and sell them. Does anyone know anything about this issue? And if it is true, are there firms that don't practice this??
