Twenty-five years ago, I had the pleasure of giving the graduation address at a university I had attended. The title of my address was "The Challenger Of Global Housekeeping." The journal that published most of the talk changed the title a bit.*

So how have things changed in the 25 yrs since? I have published a followup on my blog titled "Is The Atmosphere An Infinite Sewer."** For just one pollutant - carbon dioxide - the rate of pollution seems to be increasing although more than half the carbon dioxide (a half-life of around 20 yrs)in the atmosphere at the time I gave my talk has been removed from the atmosphere.

Personally, I do not feel either my talk or the update is political. In the talk I go to great lengths to tell how "nature" could counteract the effects of increasing atmospheric pollution, but "could" and "does' are two different things. As Pogo said on April 22, 1970, "We have met the enemy an' he is us."
