A friend from Florida called recently. During our chat he mentioned that he and his wife have joined a club for exercise facilities and a pool. We discussed prices, etc. and then he told me that their doctors had written a prescription...so that the expense of the club is a medical deduction. His wife has a pacemaker implanted and he has diabetes and arthritis.Nonetheless, these are fairly common ills, and it surprised me that the club fees could b e a legitimate medical deduction> Is it legitimate? And, might somebody with a bum knee get pool/water aerobics program as a medical deduction?
