It does stay there until you delete it—which Gordon managed to do!

I do believe that to be correct - my problem was simply I did not realize I was deleting iCloud data. I was trying to clean notes from one device that did sync to the iCloud - I thought I was deleting the local copy of the iCloud data.

While I don't like making such errors, errors happen when I try things I am not totally informed about. So my choices are try nothing new i.e. be safe or keep on learning things some of which do not work.
