It doesn't take much thought to send out a mass-email "thank-you", which is what she did.

As for:

There were lots of kids at this wedding. One friend had her husband drive around for an hour with the kids in the van because one of them was napping and they didn't want to wake him. This is after driving an hour and a half to get to the wedding. Is it so hard to get a babysitter?

While I agree it seems overly coddling to drive around aimlessly just because you don't want to wake your kid up (but maybe they figured he/she would last through the wedding festivities longer -- and if the ceremony was running late, what does it matter if you're sitting inside for things to start or in your car), if the couple getting married invited kids to the wedding, I don't really see anything the matter with this.
