It has been shown that a dishwasher uses less water than hand washing. Therefore, increasing your frequency of running the dishwasher by running it with partial loads instead of waiting for a full load will reduce, not increase your water consumption.

I'll buy the first bit. But your conclusion is backwards. Taken to the extreme you're saying that running the dishwasher every time you have a single dish to put in it will use the least amount of water.
