It is not reported on the FAFSA because it was not a gift to the student or the parents.I would bet that the feds would disagree - that they consider it a gift to the student.It certainly looks like a gift to me. The only thing different about it is that when it comes time to look at gift taxes it isn't counted by the IRS for that.
