It not always easy to be diligent on these 'click throughs'. They are deliberately designed to be confusing. So confusing in many cases that you can't tell if you are installing the program you wanted or rejecting it when you opt out of the sneak-ware.

Same thing with downloaders. Even programs we have used for years sometimes use a 'downloader' to go and get the program -- but then you have to find the sneak-ware during the install. And presumably you still have the downloader somewhere on your computer doing potentially anything it wants.

Each year it gets harder and harder to stay up to date on all the crap going on out there. Mac and Linux look like a way to end the madness -- for now.
