It seems like nearly everybody is really missing the point. Arranging your affairs to make the best use of the tax laws and codes is not living off others. It's also not immoral.

What's both ironic and inconsistent is this:
Someone with the means to retire at age 38 is having his health insurance massively subsidized by taxpayers AND he believes this is a fair system for everyone AND plenty of people here agree that the fairest possible health insurance system is consistent with that.

Probably part two of the "WTF" of this thread is that someone who was wealthy enough to achieve FI/RE at age 38 is using the taxpayer subsidy to show what a great system this is for everyone else. It would be a more effective "proof" to show how some family who was "barely making it" before now can afford good insurance.
