As a new investor-to-be I've tried to do my research, going through the 13 steps, getting the books, subscribing to the spreadsheets. And then reading the boards. I wanted an on-line discount brokerage, and so have been lurking for a couple of months, planning to start trading early in the new year (best timing for RP4, right?). Thought I'd settled on Waterhouse, but just revisited this board. Whoa!!

You can find just about anything you want on any of the on-line firms: the good, bad, and the ugly. I guess I'll go with Waterhouse, maybe backed up by Datek. But it is interesting how the ones with the bad experiences are the most vocal. Funny how we humans don't seem to be good at celebrating successes (or is it just us amuricans?).

Merry Christmas to all!

Kevin
