It's feasible.

If you have to have something just like the commercial products, you're better off buying it. Some of the science involved is just outside of the scope of homebrewing and more specifically the equipment we use.
While Michelob Ultra isn't as horrible as I feared it would be, I certainly wouldn't want to try emulating the flavor (or lack thereof).. ;-)

Part of my interest here is academic, as well - the wife (who cut her teeth on yeast genetics, incidentally - and not literally) and I have a small (very small) biotech company. I have a lab at my disposal and I'm not afraid to use it... (all in the interest of science, of course!)
