South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has signed the first post-Newtown law to allow teachers to carry guns in school. The SD House passed the measure in late January, followed by their senate last week. Supporters in the state legislature emphasized that the bill leaves decisions on whether to arm teachers up to local school boards. According to Fox News: "Rep. Stace Nelson, R-Fulton, said educators are trusted to teach students, so they also can be trusted to protect students from harm."Just think about that bolded quote. Trusted with ability to teach kids = trusted with ability to protect those kids?? It's a loony collision between apples and oranges. (Is there room for Gov. Daugaard on Mt. Rushmore?) http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics/2013/03/south-dakota...
