It's wasn't so long ago that even big stations went off the air after the Tonight Show at 1AM.Ah, yes I remember those days. Usually a little Biblical quote or a "Deep thoughts with Jack Handy" bit of philosophy then, a short schpiel about their transmitter location, power output, yadda yadda in the public interest then "We now conclude our broadcast day", then the Star Spangled banner followed by the beep tone and Indian Head test pattern. The station cutting it off hard at midnight is one of the pbs stations and there's no lead in to sign off. Whatever show is on just goes suddenly dark on all 3 like someone tripped over the plug.T'is a bit of a mystery.
