I've also attended private school and in my mind, there's no greater gift that you can give your child than small classes, personal attention, and an environment where everyone *wants* to learn.

So if all of the public schools are gone, and there are only private schools, that will mean that every child in school *wants* to learn?

Where are you going to build all of these additional schools to give the children smaller classes? Out here, we have reduced class sizes to a limit of 20 children through 3rd grade. Not all schools can do it because there is NO space.

If all of the public schools are gone, where do you think the teachers are going to go? They will go to the private schools. The same teachers that you think don't provide personal attention will be teaching in private schools.

And you are wrong - there is a much greater gift you can give your child than a small class size, etc. You can be involved in your child's education no matter if s/he attends public or private school. If you don't care enough to supervise the education than you can't expect the teachers to care either.
