I've held most of the stocks I plan to sell for quite a while, and I haven't bought any new shares within the last 30 days. Would my selling and repurchasing within the same week constitute a wash sale? For anything sold at a loss, yes. You'll add your loss to the basis of the replacement shares, and the holding period of the new shares will be that of the old.Any gains realized from the sales are taxable this year. The replacement shares carry the basis and holding period established by the new purchase.Phil MartiVITA Volunteer
