I've really been enjoying reading this board! Due to our LBYM, my husband and I are in good shape for his quitting work to go back to school this fall.

Regarding budgets: I like to use Quicken to keep track of my spending. If you're diligent about recording what your spend and put it in good catagories, you can get a good idea where your money is going. This can be surprising, but then you can make better choices about where to cut back and budget.

Regarding honeymoons: Congratulations! My husband and I had a great wedding and honeymoon for about $500 ("marriage" was one of my catagories in quicken). First we eloped, which obviously saved megabucks on the wedding part. Then we took a long weekend on the North Shore of Lake Superior IN DECEMBER. This was off, off-season. We stayed in swanky hotels for about half-price and had the whole winter-wonderland to ourselves. It was great.

Another idea: I have a friend getting married this fall. They're going to get last minute discount fares (I'm not sure which airline, but they found it on the web, of course), so they won't know where they're going until right before they leave. How exciting!

Good luck!
