I've seen a spate of such mind-numbingly silly 'recommendations' from the established print media over the past couple of years. Just a wag, but it sounds like their marketing survey's might be showing a growing number of new or soon-to-be retirees with zippo understanding of the investment marketplace are out looking for material to buy to financially guide them into retirement. Clearly, such an article will be (rightly) scorned by those who have even a modest understanding of mutual funds. But if so, this will likely be a boon to the sharks and hucksters such as the following I recently came across....


I particularly like the "Crash Proof Retirement". Doesn't say what is involved with 'crashproofing' ones retirement savings, but I'd wage a month of portfolio income that it's Equity Indexed Annuities.
